HIGH SCHOOL WRITING CONTEST

Fall 2024 High School Writing Contest

From the Ground Up Books is proud to sponsor our Fall 2024 High School Writing Contest.  We will be accepting submissions for both Poetry and Short Stories.

Author Requirements:

  • Must be in 9th through 12th grade

  • Must be a resident of Oldham or Bullitt Counties

  • Must grant permission to publish their work to From the Ground Up Books

 

Submission Requirements:

  • Submission must not be previously published

  • Must be an original work (no AI permitted)

  • Must be submitted no later than October 31st

  • Must be submitted electronically via email using the link below

  • Must be in any one of the following formats:

    • TXT

    • PDF

    • Apple Pages

    • Microsoft Word

  • Must include:

    • Author's Name

    • School Name

    • Current Grade Level

    • County of Residence


Judging will take place between November 1st and November 20th.

Prizes:

  • There will be two winners for each category from each county

  • First Place in each category will receive a $25 gift card to From the Ground Up Books

  • Second Place in each category will receive a $10 gift card to From the Ground Up Books

  • There will be one grand prize winner selected from the four first place finishers

  • The grand prize winner will receive a fully paid scholarship to From the Ground Up Books’ PenCrafters Writing Mentorship program which includes mentorship from local authors, publishers, editors, book marketing specialists, etc.

  • All 8 winning entries will be published in an anthology by From the Ground Up Books

  • Non-winning entries may be published at the discretion of From the Ground Up Books
