Lynn Tincher – Owner & Story Curator
Lynn is the heart behind From the Ground Up Books, where she blends her love of stories with her passion for community. She is a published author, writing coach, and podcaster, bringing a unique perspective to the shelves by championing indie voices, curating hidden gems, and creating spaces where readers and writers connect. When she is not running the store, she is usually writing her next book, hosting events, or chasing down a good ghost story in the historic Ballard House.

Eric Calvert – Technology & Community Support
Eric has been an application developer for more than 20 years, bringing technical know-how and problem-solving skills to the team. At From the Ground Up Books, he helps out in the stores on weekends and leads the monthly writer’s group, where he fosters creativity and connection among local authors. His mix of tech expertise and community support makes him an invaluable part of the bookstore family.

Missy Steier – Reiki Master, Store Clerk, & Associate Producer

Melissa wears many hats at From the Ground Up Books. She offers Reiki through Mystic Bliss Reiki, teaches Reiki, helps with daily bookstore operations, and guides ghost hunts at the historic Ballard House. She also serves as Associate Producer for the Weirdos in the Wild podcast, coordinating guests and supporting production behind the scenes. With her blend of holistic practice, community engagement, and creative support, Melissa brings a unique energy to everything she does.

Jesse Tincher – Assistant Manager & Creative Support
Jesse plays a key role at From the Ground Up Books, assisting with operations at the La Grange store and helping keep everything running smoothly for customers and authors. He also manages Plot Stops and edits the Weirdos in the Wild podcast, bringing his creativity and attention to detail to both bookstore and media projects. Whether supporting events, handling day-to-day tasks, or polishing up podcast episodes, Jesse helps make sure our stories reach the right audience.

Velena Zurschmeide – Assistant Manager & Event Coordinator
Velena keeps From the Ground Up Books running smoothly with her creativity and organizational skills. She coordinates events, manages social media, and ensures our newsletters and community outreach stay on track. From setting up author signings to planning special programs, Velena is at the center of bringing readers and writers together. Her eye for detail and enthusiasm for books make her an essential part of the team.

Rebecca Zadorozhnyy – Program Manager, Pixie Drops
Becca leads the Pixie Drops program at From the Ground Up Books, managing submissions, production, and distribution of this unique collectible micro-fiction card series. She works closely with authors to bring their stories to life in bite-sized form, ensuring each volume is polished and ready for readers. With her dedication to detail and her passion for creative projects, Becca helps keep Pixie Drops growing as a one-of-a-kind way to celebrate storytelling.

Emily Lawson – Project Manager, Author Services
Emily oversees the development of From the Ground Up Books Author Services, helping to shape and organize this growing branch of the business. She manages timelines, coordinates resources, and ensures the pieces come together so that the program can serve authors effectively. Her focus and organization keep the project moving forward, making her a key part of expanding what the bookstore can offer.

Jennifer Vance – Store Clerk & Artist in Residence
Jennifer brings both warmth and creativity to From the Ground Up Books. She assists with daily store operations, helping customers feel welcome and at home, while also serving as our Artist in Residence. Her stained glass pieces, paintings, and other artwork are showcased in the store, adding a unique creative spirit to the space. Jennifer’s blend of artistry and community care makes her a vital part of our team.

AJ is the co-host of the Weirdos in the Wild podcast, produced in partnership with From the Ground Up Books. With a knack for storytelling and a love of the strange and unusual, AJ helps bring fresh voices and fascinating conversations to listeners each week. Beyond the mic, AJ supports the bookstore’s creative projects and community events, making him an integral part of the extended team.

Michelle Bibee – Brand Ambassador
Michelle is the feet on the ground for From the Ground Up Books, sharing our mission and building connections in the community. As Brand Ambassador, she helps spread the word about our programs, events, and memberships, making sure readers and authors alike feel part of the bookstore family. Her energy and enthusiasm make her a natural advocate for everything we do.

Founded by award-winning author Lynn Tincher, From the Ground Up Books combines retail with real paranormal experiences. Our La Grange location operates from the historic, haunted Platform 205 (Ballard House), while our Shepherdsville location embraces Kentucky's bourbon heritage.

We specialize in paranormal literature, author mentorship through our PenCrafters program, and authentic supernatural experiences including monthly ghost tours. Our holistic wellness section features crystals, meditation supplies, and metaphysical resources.
