Business spotlight: Salt River Brewing Company

There's a new gathering spot in downtown Shepherdsville, and it came into the world the hard way.
Owner Adam Kelty is a Kentucky native, raised in Mount Washington, who served in both the Navy and Army before trading that path for more time with family. He runs the brewery as a joint venture with co-owner Andy Cobb, who handles the brewing side, while Kelty built out the location with help from his wife Amanda.
The opening didn't go as planned. Their original grand opening date was washed out when the Salt River flooded the building's floors. The team pushed through and officially opened on April 17, even brewing a barrel-aged beer to commemorate it, calling it the "Flood of '25."
The beers are designed to drink on the water, mostly light styles, with sours as a house specialty. The brewery is also working toward a fully local pour, partnering with Cedar Creek Farms to grow hops right here in Shepherdsville. Alongside the beer, you'll find wood fired pizza, wings, and a rotating lineup of local food trucks throughout the week. Salt River hosts Friday After 5 events with live music, and has quickly become a place to gather, celebrate, and make memories together.
