Weekly Newsletter

Writer's Groups! Good News!  We’ve had enough response that we’ve decided to have two writer’s groups - one in Shepherdsville and one in La Grange.  The first meeting of the Shepherdsville group will be at 3pm on Sunday September 15th.  The first meeting of the La Grange group will be at 3pm on Sunday October 6th. Both groups will generally meet once per month - except that they will meet weekly in November if anyone is participating in NaNoWriMo. The group is open to anyone age 13+.  If you are interested, please sign up so that we can effectively plan based on the group size.

High School Writing Contest

We are opening submissions for a high school writing contest.  We will accept submissions in the categories of poetry and short stories.  The contest will be open to anyone in 9th through 12th grade who resides in Bullitt or Oldham counties.  There will be 1st and 2nd place prizes in both categories and an overall “best entry”.  First prize in each category is a $25 gift card.  Second prize is a $10 gift card.  Best overall entry will receive a full scholarship to our next PenCrafters workshop.

One Year Anniversary

We are fast approaching the one year anniversary of our La Grange location.  In celebration, we will be giving away gift baskets filled with books, gift cards, other gift items from the store, and other prizes.  You may register for these prizes once per visit per day per store.  Registrations are being accepted in both the La Grange and Shepherdsville locations.  You do not need to present at the drawing to win.  Drawing will be held October 12th at the La Grange location.

Author Signing

On Saturday, September 14th, Gerry Harlan Brown will be in the Shepherdsville storing signing his books from noon to 4pm.  Please stop and check out his books.

Tarot Reading

Jenny Floyd will also be in the Shepherdsville store on September 14th doing Tarot readings.  Whether you are a Tarot neophyte, Tarot curious, or Tarot enthusiast, you will want to make certain to come and see Jenny to get a reading.

The Return of PenCrafters!

After a very successful initial run, we are going to offer our PenCrafters Writing Mentorship program again in January 2025.  This is a 7-week program starting on Tuesday January 7th @ 7pm.  For more information or to sign-up, please click the button below.
