Indie Author of the Week!Henry SipesFrom childhood dreams under starry skies to a distinguished career in engineering and astronomy outreach, Henry Sipes has dedicated his life to exploring the wonders of our universe. Henry’s fascination with space began early, leading him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Purdue University. His commitment to sharing knowledge blossomed as he conducted astronomy programs for the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and other groups since 1990. In 2006, Henry was appointed a volunteer park astronomer at Otter Creek Park Observatory near Fort Knox, where he was honored as a Kentucky Colonel for his outstanding contributions. He continued inspiring others as a park astronomer for South Harrison Park, Indiana, serving for nearly a decade. Henry’s passion extended beyond local parks—he also served as a NASA Solar System Ambassador and earned a Master of Science in Astronomy from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. Professionally, Henry has spent the past 25 years as a packaging engineer with a privately held, $1 billion global manufacturer of electronic interconnect solutions, designing products that reach into the aerospace industry and beyond. Away from the lab and observatory, Henry enjoys life with his family on a scenic 25-acre tree farm, where he cultivates cedars, hardwoods, chickens, and honeybees. An avid hiker and backpacker, Henry has traversed trails across Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, North Carolina, Arizona, and Maine, embracing the beauty of nature wherever he goes. Henry Sipes stands as a shining example of lifelong learning, community service, and stewardship of both earth and sky. |
